Summer Tour 2018 at the Sprowston Road Community Hub
The Sprowston Road Community Hub provides a wide range of support services for adults with learning and physical disabilities, young people in transition and the elderly, including people with dementia, in the home and in the community.
We set up in an enormous room with a stage. We hung one landscape backdrop on the stage and Cath put her piano on the stage. We set up the chaise-long and other chairs on the stage and floor for people to pose. The other Landscape back drops we recruited the care taker to help us hang them as the ceilings were so high and he needed to use his ladder.
We created a giant circle around the edge of the room looking at the stage and easels at the back for people that liked standing and painting. All the materials were laid out on the tables and the Norwich Dandies went around talking to everyone and praising them on their amazing, talented art work.
Putinca enjoyed engaging with people and joking and laughing. The support workers helped support some of the residents who needed it. We set up the dressing up area in one corner of the room so everyone could dress up. The stage was filled with dressed up models posing for the artists painting.
The artwork had a range of diverse individual styles and people interpreted what they viewed in their own unique way. We hung all their work on the side and back walls, the space resembled the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Everyone viewed the paintings in awe over lunch. After a long days painting and posing we packed up the van and prepared for setting up at Norwich Pride.
You can find images of some of the art created at the event in the gallery.
