Summer Tour 2018 at the Ipswich Road Community Hub
The Ipswich Road Community Hub provides a wide range of support services for adults with learning and physical disabilities. The hub aims to provide flexible, person centred support that focuses on the needs and aspirations of the individual.
We set up in a large activity room. We put the landscape banners along the wall and Cath set up on one side. We set up long rows of easels and tables to work from. The resident's sat in small groups around the tables or at the easels. Everyone dressed up and lots of people posed together with Putinca in front of the landscapes. The Norwich Dandies went round talking to everyone on how their work was going and gave out more paint and materials.
A group of work-experience teenagers were working at the centre that day and helped hang the washing line between the trees outside from which the art work was exhibited. They also joined in and painted too! Support workers helped the residents access the paint and brushes in what ever way they felt comfortable. The room was filled with artists expressing their talents on paper and posing.
At lunch time the room changed to a dining venue and we sat outside and had a picnic admiring the prolific amount of talented art achieved. After lunch every one was excited about getting back to painting and more people joined in. After some dancing we packed the van, honked the horn and waved good bye as we headed ready for the next leg of the tour.
